T1D Corporate Champion of the Year Award to Honda:
JDRF is proud to present the T1D Corporate Champion of the
Year Award to American Honda Motor Co., Inc. Honda’s dedication to JDRF and its
long-standing support for the communities where they work and live demonstrate
the company’s commitment to making the world a better place. On January 1st,
Honda led the 129th Rose Parade with “Power of Dreams Express” and
highlighted JDRF as a key philanthropic partner. Living up to their company
motto of “being a company that society wants to exist,” Honda’s foundations and
charitable giving support a range of local and national initiatives that
address the education, health and well being of young people. Steve Morikawa, American
Honda Vice President of Corporate Relations & Social Responsibility, will
accept the award on the company’s behalf.
Spirit Award Honor to Andy Bales:
Andy Bales, CEO of Union Rescue Mission, is an incredibly deserving recipient of this year's Spirit Award. Andy has supported the Los Angeles area for over 30 years through community outreach and services to individuals experiencing homelessness. As an individual with T1D, Andy fears that his children and grandchildren are at risk of developing the disease and is committed to JDRF’s mission.
